Display Rapiers & Fencing Foils
The term rapier was adopted in England, from
sources unknown, and is used to describe a thrusting sword intended for dueling
(later termed fencing) and self defense.
Since early duels were often
spontaneous affairs, the practice became the routine bearing of
a suitable weapon by all those who aspired to this privilege.
And it so came about, that those who had a reputation to defend
took to the wearing of a sword as part of their daily apparel.
