Milanese is the descriptive term for Italian
armor of the 15th Century characterized by an organic, rounded
line.
Milanese armors are generally made from larger plates than their
German gothic counterparts, have little fluting, and are more
curvaceous. The Italians fancied the flow these rounded edges
gave the helm.
This is a tough, robust reproduction of the 15th Century
Milanese Helms.
It is made of hand-forged 16 gauge, low carbon, A-36 mild steel.
It is important to note that the lower the gauge, the thicker
the steel. For example: 16 gauge is thicker than 18 gauge.
This metallurgical composition provides excellent resilience,
durability and will polish to high sheen.
The fully-articulated hinged visor allows for solid protection
and a comfortable fit.
This helmet conforms to the Society for Creative Anachronism's
standards for thickness.
